The Basics.. Part one

I am sure this topic has been beaten to death by all the fashion blogs and magazines so one more blow from me will not do any damage :).

The following are the basics that I think every gal should have in her wardrobe. These basics are the ones that make any outfit look put together so invest the time/ money to get them right.

Ubiquitous Denim
There should be at least 5 or 6 different pieces of denim in every wardrobe. I wouldn't be stranded on an island without at least one denim piece in my possession. My favorite denim picks are

1. Regular Denim Jeans
I own 3 - light wash, medium wash and dark wash. If you are planning to have more than one go for a different style for each (straight, relaxed, boot cut, skinny etc)
2. Denim Jacket
This is another absolute must for toning down very bright prints or being able to carry those in-trend pieces.

3. Denim skirt
Short and long length if you can afford 2. Short length if you can afford only one.
4. Boyfriend jeans

5. Denim Trouser

I wouldn't call this an absolute must but if you can, why not? :)

6. Skinny jeans
Go for cropped length like the Denim Minnie from J.Crew

Tranformation..

I had been an unhappy shopaholic until a few years back. Not because I felt guilty about shopping but because I made some impulsive purchases of things that didn't suit me at all; I made some redundant purchases of things that I already owned; I made some sub-standard purchases of things that were on sale; I made some peer-pressured, in-trend purchases of things that made me feel included. In the end, I was unhappy sitting amidst the moutainous pile of things that I didn't enjoy; things that didn't make me feel good; things I didn't care about.

Not anymore.. I am a truly happy shopaholic these days. And, this blog is about the transformation. On how I moved to that happy place :).

Please join me as I share my shopping stories on how I fill my wardrobe these days only with the things I truly like and thoroughly enjoy. Maybe some of my experiences will help you in creating your own treasurable wardrobe :)

About me..

I am a shopaholic. This is no revelation as I have been this way for many years. My obsession with shopping is as natural to me as my femininity. It is just there in my system always :)

I think about fabrics, patterns, mixing and matching pieces, sales, stores and deals a lot of times during my day. I have a separate email id just for online shopping, store alerts and deals. It is this account that I check first every morning. If you are a shopaholic like me you are probably nodding or smiling at your monitor by now :)

I walk straight to my computer in the morning and look for the latest additions to my favorite stores, JCrew being my latest addiction. I wish I had been hooked onto JCrew much earlier but better late than never.

Some people may consider this obsession shallow - I don't want to argue with them because I know I will be thinking about polyvore sets instead of counter-arguements to whatever they are saying. I haven't looked at this addiction philosophically because I am busy trying to add the perfect item to my shopping cart. This is who I am in this lifetime and I am happy this way. People seek happiness as the end and each has his/her own means for that end goal. My means happens to be shopping all the way to glory :)
